Most people never reply to the want ads anyway. It's just a few of them now who get a reply. I posted my suggestion. Apparently some people are suggesting Sudoku to be added as a game. Which I think would actually be a good idea, cause I've always really liked Sudoku.
I have a feeling that the subforum for roleplay requests wont be added, though quiet a few others may support the idea enough for it to be accepted.

We'll see. For the Sudoku game suggestion, it seems like an okay time killer but might take too long to finish unless there is a save game feature on it. I'm pretty good with picture versions of the game instead of numbers. Looking at numbers too long makes me lose track easily.

I hate counting, I usually say stuff like 10 11 12 30. It gets frustrating alot. I've only ever play color Sudoku and number sudoku. I quess with pictures it's the same. Just with pictures.

Low quality as computer doodles...?
D=
Everyone has their own style of arts...
So maybe computer doodles are not good enough for you, they might be good for some... D;
Edea Sorceress
October 22, 2009 17:38 ()
No no, even people that have their own style has to keep in mind of appearance and "will it sell". Computer doodles are sloppy and noticeable of their uneven shape and hardly eye catching. People judge appearances well and draw toward what catches their attention first.

I guess I can't open my own art shop then.. I don't think my art will sell. I use gimp 2.6, since I don't have a tablet I draw with a mouse, and my art might be a little sloppy. But, I wouldn't say that my art is so horrible that I won't have any customers at all. If I post something that I drew here would you critize it or give your honest opinion if it would sell or not?

I will give my thoughts on your art if it looks to have some merit unless you want some "real" artists. Put up samples of what you find to be your best, favorite, and most enjoyed to make. If you also wish to, place old work and new work side by side for something to compare of changing adjustments of past to future.

Tina
October 23, 2009 6:43 ()
Your most recent looks the most cleaned up. There is potential and having the bodies of the characters you make like sketches give them a sort of appearance to note while not at all sloppy at all. However, some KOFK avatar ones look like finger paint where the layer of colors looks rather painful. The coloring with the sketch marks make them rather creepy photo negatives that distract the over all product.

The one grey one with the girl is nice in its form. The Karin one of a year old is simplistic that leaves to question of character positions but that's work in progress.

If the rest of your work looks similar to your most recent product of the girl in the purple dress, there is some buying potential like little dolls in a crane machine without looking so overly plush toy like with dash lines. In the least, the one in the purple dress and the grey kite flying girl show a great difference among the older choices.

Only thing I do hope to see is one where you redid atleast one of the older avatar drawings you have made.

Decide on a general idea of the store with mind of the products and what flexibility you have or what your limits are. Put forward what you can only do so ward off ridiculous requests that are not in your field.

Don't know if that was help, but you you think it is then go ahead.

So you can't picture a drawing that something a kit in early elementary has done, Edea?
Waltz
October 24, 2009 3:56 ()
Well, I considered that help because you were about the only one that gave your honest opinion and no one else gave me a good answer like you did. When I asked my sister about my art she glanced at it and said that it was O.K. That wasn't really helpful. When I made a topic on gaia asking for their opinion, people just said that my art was cute/ adorable.. They didn't really explain why it was cute.
Tina
October 24, 2009 5:34 ()
Ah, that is true. I think it would be because they don't want to take a moment to think about it further than just giving a quick opinion.

Though....that is lazy to say something along the lines of "Aw, kawaii~" and bedeathly wrong because that isn't what you are asking. I hate to see those same people that commented for you or deal with them in the future.

October 24, 2009 15:43 ()
Try this angle. You want to see what the art is with a general idea of how it can possibly stand a chance against other artists, how it stands above low grade work of two year olds, and how it shows personal art traits that makes it have the artist's personal touch. Then take into account of what the art is. For Tina, since it's obviously not realistic and more toward the 'anime' or 'chibi' style, think of how that art style is. For 'chibi', the idea of 'chibi' is to be small and simplistic. Details would be too much and overcrowd the creation or be too small to match its size to give proper note while being squished in place.

That's all a guess, of course. If you think it's cute and whatever right off the bat, perhaps your standards of what you expect out of drawings isn't all that high. As long as it looks "cute", that's all it would take to write it a cheap grade.

Reviewing people's work honestly takes a lot of energy. Telling people why their items were rejected takes a lot of energy... If you don't know the person they might take it the wrong way and take even more of your time. Be grateful whenever someone takes the time to give you honest criticism.
Karin
October 24, 2009 23:12 ()
Energy? Only part I think is "energy taking" for me is the time to look through what is presented. After that my thoughts pop up and go.

I mean, you reject an item because of a reason. If the reason can be altered easily then that's it for a request. If it goes against the "lay of the land" then that is it unless there is a compromise to mold the item into a way so it fits.

I don't need to waste time getting to know some random person that will most likely end up being a nothing on forums of a "pass and go" type and don't look back. The person wanted to know of their work and what potential faults are there, thus, it is back to the person who wanted that sort of out come.

October 24, 2009 23:38 ()
Hmm...straight forward but hard to really compare to see if the art used is a constant through other works. It, again, appeals to those into anime art so audience is easy to gain. I have never seen or heard of Sumo paint before and looks a lot more complex with some real art tools to use unlike Open Canvas. The lines are fairly easy to make out due to gaps here and there that would need to be fixed if you're all up for that complete solo line coloring book type of outlines.

-looks at the colored sample-

Shading looks...rather bad to me. Human skin looks okay though reminds me of how someone would put makeup cream that ends up lighting the skin tone. The hair looks like some bit of lava or just a strange way of dying your hair where the colors just bled than staying in place. If you were trying to make the hair look fire like, I would suggest making the hair look "alive", "lively", or as if "moving" to depict it better.

The only nice part of your color blending is the eyes. The eyes make the person almost like an alien or having some surreal ESP powers without creepy strings attached. Glowing but not totally robotic about it so the eyes are the strong point of the colored version yet holds a possibly chance that it might be a down side for being too bright for your customer's tastes. The draw back is how thick the lines are to make out the eyes. The coloring you use for the large anime iris takes in the attention already.

So, despite having little to really compare, your rivals and audience are into anime themes and the like. Your sample shows a more cut version so "cute" shouldn't be used to describe the product since your product looks more like a potential fighter but that might be because of the character's outlining that gives off this impression. Busts seem to be good yet simple since you excluded note traits of gender differences as well as the odd sight of a character having human ears. Having trouble with ears or was hair just something of convenience? If colored differently, the character can look more male than female which draws up a final point. For having just outlines, people can request what colors they would like the character to become or you can sell your outlines and let people color it themselves.

That is about all the suggestions I can think up in these few minutes.

October 25, 2009 9:31 ()
It's speculation of ideas. You don't have to be good at drawing but knowing some helps anyway. People do have different tastes but you have to look at the scope of those who will be in that line. People usually give the fast remarks because it pleases them enough in appearance to look at, judge it, and move on to something else. Gaining their interest further than that would be the profit area.
Waltz
October 25, 2009 19:16 ()

I wouldn't be. It's not comparing your skill to the other person or vice versa since it's more based on viewing. Seeing something doesn't need a requirement but some know how is better than coming off with nothing. Like going to a museum and judging the art hanging there.

October 27, 2009 19:40 ()
They asked for it and shouldn't be offended. The artists should be ready for what they ask. It is also the reviewer's task to hand an upside to the flaws the point out. Who would take advice if it's all trash? They won't take any when there is nothing good about it. If it is utter trash, the upside is to redo it and ahve that being the large thing.

A long time ago but I have been to an art show. It may be because he is dead and is famous for other works but, because he is famous, even things that don't look like much will have a high value on them. It just seems to be the case.

I don't draw often so I have old sketches that's about three years old when I suddenly had this idea to photobucket them. Most sketches aren't larger than a box of three by three inches. When I want to draw, it comes and goes but I think they're fairly descent than abviously anime attempts.

Kinda depends. Some do look interesting but others like his sketch works bother me a little for some reason when I look at one. In this art auction, there was a sketch that looked like some man wrestling a bull or demon or something. It was very very odd but I guess that is why it remained a sketch and not a painting.

Um...thanks? Yeah, it's a raccoon.

Um...you're embarrassing me, Tina. But thank you for your comments. It's some years old but I'm not that motivated to draw that much. If I wanted to draw again, I would still draw raccoons among other things.

Yes, I like raccoons, Edea. The cute appearance of them anyway. I could care less for the rabid types. For the plush toys, I am picky about their appearance and tail length. A toy can be soft and all but if it looks kiinda drab, too much chest fur, or have a shot stub and poor excuse to call it a raccoon tall then I'm not buying it.

I work and with the lack of trick-or-treaters around....or by the weather, not much will be going on.
