Maybe it is the progression of the plot rather that the plot being "this is the goal". Try thinking like that.
September 2, 2009 11:34 ()
Hm.... I'll try. x"3
Thank you. >3<
Btw, I just happened to see you role playing in KofK, and you're so good at it. >3< Uuuuh~
September 4, 2009 0:07 ()
I don't know about being good at it compared to the big heads that flap around being "literate" and wanting "literate" only people. I just find it easier to write in an rp setting than some stupid wasted college topic. Rps I make, however, die easily due to lack of people. I think it is because they want very simple rps with the bare minimum or something copy and pasted with the setting and rules tweaked.
September 4, 2009 13:19 ()
D": Uh yeah... everyone seems to be too lazy to make or read long posts.
Plus, I don't know what other people think, but it will take me like forever to write long posts as you did. D:
And I think it's cool to be able to do that. ;3;
September 4, 2009 18:14 ()
Are you sure you have the right person? I don't think I type anything too long. Only thing on the "longish" wise is the first post of the rp where I try to cram what I expect out of people and want them to follow. After that is just barely keeping a paragraph or two...depending on how I feel like responding.
Though it does bother me like those literate people that purposely make their font size so cursedly small. I think they're just trying to be show offs or fancy but either way, I don't have time to honestly take their size 8 and under text, copy it, and put it on a notepad to read the load. Even worse if they pick a color that nearly blends or is like neon to the background.
September 5, 2009 13:29 ()
Of course, yes.
...
I think? D":
Since the username is Waltz, and I see your chibi pixel doll in the signature. D;
... Maybe they aren't long to you, but to me, they are? D";
Uh yeah... that's a pain in the neck. ;3;
Small size doesn't make the post prettier to me though. D;
I just skip those kinds of posts, unless they're important. D;
September 6, 2009 4:32 ()
I see, just making sure.
If that were the case of my posts just being longer than your currently unknown sized posts then I guess you were talking about me.
September 6, 2009 16:22 ()
And being COOLER.
D:
*hic*
I always want to write a story, or at least something that is long... D;
But the longest post in English I've ever typed is a review on an anime. D:
*hic*
September 7, 2009 0:20 ()
Cooler?
Anyway, write it like a recording. Maybe try it upon yourself in writing first person to third person of yourself. Like when playing a game, what thoughts do you have running through? Are there any distractions? Do you hear anything outside the home? While playing, do you try thinking of what to do next or talking out loud to yourself like "I'm going to kill that monster before I run out of time to do an errand"?
There are many ways to go about things to find what is your comfort zone to feel a way to be expressive without critical thinking. Just acting. Doing.
But those are just thoughts off the top of my head.
September 7, 2009 11:52 ()
Uh huh~ X"3
I tried, but...
It's like... when I played a game, or watched an anime, or etc... It suddenly inspired me, so I started writing. However, after a few days, or a few pages, I stopped. Either because I ran out of ideas or because I was tired of it, and I didn't want to that anymore. Oh... and sometimes the story went so bad that I didn't want to continue... D; I tried taking a break, but then as time passed, I totally forgot about it, until one day, I saw and deleted it. D:
September 7, 2009 19:10 ()
Ideas are dead when not played out or have met conditions to continue "living" or "temporary dormant", so go ahead, kill them all under terms of being unsatisfactory...
September 8, 2009 13:10 ()
Uuuuh...
I don't really get what you mean...
*covers head in case you knock it* D;
September 8, 2009 21:16 ()
Maybe I should...it might break an idea or two....
When people tell about their day, you hear that they sometimes say what they were thinking at the time while talking to their friend or whatever, right? Put that into writting.
September 9, 2009 0:35 ()
-lurking-
You have such great writing tips, Waltz.
Do you write a lot?
September 9, 2009 9:03 ()
Define writing a lot...I don't think I do compaired to those hardcore people that write fanfics and gut a long winded story out of themselves for the real life side. I detest academic writing and find this style on forums much more casual. At least I'm not graded on something I'm forced to write based on things I either don't know and have no experience in that they expect I should know or have that in my life.
And thanks...I suppose. They're just bits of my way of thinking. If you consider my thoughts as "tips" then help yourself with a slice of cake.
September 9, 2009 13:15 ()
... D8
*runs and hides behind a huge stone*
Hm... I'll try. But it seems to only help make the story longer to me. ="(
I hate being forced to write, too.
But here we sometimes even have to praise a certain character, whether we like him/her or not. D;
September 10, 2009 2:02 ()
Well... I suppose I mean do you enjoy writing? And, I mean like... well... anything. Whatever you write [ unless it's school related, I don't think anybody enjoys that. :< ], do you enjoy writing it?
And I know what you mean, about writing in a forum, it's a lot easier. And those tests, they always wonder why hardly anybody writes anything good for the essay parts, but it's because there isn't anything good to write about. Like... One time, I had to do something about how sports are useful for social blah. I don't like sports, especially when they involve other people. So, I think I made up some BS that sounded okay.
Yes, I consider them tips, because you think in ways that I don't, and they are way useful. I could definitely use them.
Yay Cake. ♥
September 10, 2009 3:54 ()
@Edea: Then ignore the length. Then again, if you like what is being written, the thought of how long it is shouldn't even matter. How long it becomes should be something of an "amazement" to have an idea or story even be stretched that far.
Length usuall y keys to the painful reality on assignments that demand X number of pages and X number of words.
Hard to say. I just write without really thinking of enjoying it so I suppose it's accepting without the struggle or demand attached to it. An example would be like I want a video game that just came out and need to go to the store but I hate driving around too much and would rather stay home to avoid idiots on the road. The act of driving is accepting that I have to do that in order to go where I want to be. There's no need for a thought prep or reasoning to go over, just get in the car and go. Does that make sense?
I see. Maybe you should tempt to think like that a little but that would just spoil your dessert if you try too hard.
September 10, 2009 4:59 ()
Huh. I guess it's different for different people? I can't really just accept writing for some reason. I have to like it, or I won't finish it. I've tried. I've only written one successful thing but that's because the idea was running around in my head, and it was completely written out anyways, I just had to physically write it out. It was really nice short story.
Only if fry my brain attempting to actually do that.
September 10, 2009 5:55 ()
Then do without thinking since your thoughts are all ready distracted on the idea in your head. With attention drawn away from the actual thought of physical writing, it might be less of a bother to you.
September 10, 2009 14:15 ()
Hm... okay. x'3 Though it seems kinda strange when a story which is supposed to be long turns out... D;
Anw, thanks, Waltz. >3<
I'll try your tips when I have some nice new ideas. x'3
Btw, anyone here knows Homer Hickam who wrote Rocket Boys?
He visited my school today. 8D
It's the first time I have had a famous write visit my class. X'3
September 11, 2009 2:40 ()
Alright then.
Huh, can't say I know that person. I don't read books often.
September 11, 2009 3:12 ()
Mmm...
Oh. Do you think it would be... okay... to make up a story for my Health Class? For some reason, we have to write an Autobiography, and I don't really like going into detail about my young life...
September 11, 2009 4:41 ()
Can't say. I keep it on myself to not do that for school writing. You could just gloss over things and focus on the important memories and bulk it with details.
September 11, 2009 13:08 ()
...But your writing is great~
And people who are good at writing usually read lots and lots of book~ x"<
September 11, 2009 13:15 ()
Thanks for the compliment...I guess.
Books these days don't exactly interest me after my fill of the few Redwall books I liked. They're either boring to me or just lack whatever it was that got me to bother looking at the first few pages. Right now though, I do read this thing called FAUST. Some short story stuff from Japanese light novels or essays put in a book. It's rather for a few stories. Other than that book, no other book has really stayed in my hands a long time.
September 11, 2009 15:19 ()
I see.
D;
Japanese light novel...
Oh~ Have you read .hack//Ai Buster? x'3
It's good. ;o; Though I can't find its next books on the net. *hic*
September 11, 2009 18:19 ()
Well, it's the closest I can say of it being a light novel. It's a combo of pieces here and there from several writers like those who did CLAMP or [TYPE MOON] and other people. On the back of FAUST it says "A stunning new collection of fiction inspired by the fantastic world of manga-featuring artwork by the best in the business, including...(names off the list in the current book) PLUS more illustrated stories, columns, interviews, and bonus features."
That's about what it says. I guess it's the first light novel like thing I have read. You should be able to find this in some large book stores if you're interested. If not, then oh well.
September 11, 2009 23:44 ()
writing tips ehj?
September 12, 2009 13:27 ()
@ Waltz:Wow... cool~ D8
And I AM interested in those. But there's no way you will be able to find them here. ;o;
@Angerus: Uh~ ;D And very helpful ones, too~ ;D
September 12, 2009 13:52 ()
oh awesome ^^'
September 12, 2009 22:02 ()
Should keep searching or ask the store to order it for you if they can.
September 13, 2009 9:50 ()
@Angerus: Uh huh~ x'D
@Waltz: D; I doubt they do. *hic*
But then I'll have my sister find them for me~ >D She's in Australia, so that should be easier. X"D
September 13, 2009 12:20 ()
Guess that would have to work. Think link shows an example incase you don't have an idea of what the book looks like.
COOL~! D8
...
Dang... if I knew about this earlier...
My sis is coming home next Saturday...
I doubt she will be able to buy it in time. X"<
*stabs self*
September 13, 2009 20:45 ()
Who knows. Might be in an airport book store along the way. That's how I was first introduced to it.
September 14, 2009 10:55 ()
>3<
Uh~
I hope she will be able to find it. ;3;
September 14, 2009 23:20 ()
You could just order it if all else fails. I read that FAUST was only going to be just two volumns but I honestly hope more are published here.
September 15, 2009 12:33 ()
Uh yeah... My parents won't allow it. D;
*hic*
You make me want it even more now. Dx
September 15, 2009 19:29 ()
I think it's your inability to obtain the book is what makes you want it more. Some books purposely only have a few made out of a set, based on what ends up being shipped or translated.
September 16, 2009 13:10 ()
x"<
*munches your books*
I guess... ;3;
But you told me about the book~! D< *tries to blame Waltz using stupid reasons*
D;
Here I rarely have what I can consider "nice"... .__."
September 16, 2009 17:57 ()
-_- A book can also be a hat! :D
September 16, 2009 23:01 ()
-pretending to not hear a pointless comment-....
I blame your hunger then. I would tempt the idea to mail the one I have to you....but you won't get it around three weeks or more, depending on how long the mail cargo is stored in a warehouse.
September 17, 2009 14:20 ()
D8
You would send me THE BOOK?!
x<
Oh oh~
I can wait, I can wait~
>3<
I'll be good~ ;3;
But then... how can I return it to you? D;
September 17, 2009 18:51 ()
Why do you think there is a return address?
You're better off waiting to find it yourself at this point. Faster than waiting almost a month.
September 18, 2009 13:28 ()
...
:"D
Uuuuuh... ;3;
But the percentage of my getting the book by buying is from 0 to 10. D:
But still~ I guess I should go and look for myself. x"P
Thank you though~ for giving me such good tips and letting me know about the book~ >3<
Uuuuh... my teacher just told us to write an essay on "give and receive"~ Uuuh. Dx
September 18, 2009 13:49 ()
Ah....so you didn't go out to look for the book yet. What book stores are around where you live?
"give and receive"? .... Sounds better than writing about "how I can make a difference/give back to the community" or "who influenced me that isn't my parents". Write about donating clothing or something with that mush of self satisfaction for a good deed as a receive or whatever. But it's your paper with a large range than some junk I got.
September 18, 2009 13:58 ()
I don't even need to go and look around.
Since I'm pretty sure that they won't have it.
The only books in English they have for sale are books for studying English and some really famous books like Harry Potter, Princess Diary,... D;
Yeah... but then when you have too many choices, you then don't know what to do. Dx *hic*
September 18, 2009 17:27 ()
But....it is in english. I doubt it would be on sale and you better bother to look.
So? Go to the larger book stores first and shrink down. My sis found the second volumn in Barnes and Noble.
September 18, 2009 18:33 ()
D;
I'll try and look around~
But as I said, it's unlikely that I will be able to find one here, since I did try it with some other books. But then I ended up either getting from my friend on the net/my sis or giving up. D:
And here it's not the same as where you live~ D=
September 18, 2009 22:31 ()
You keep saying "try" but I don't hear a "I failed to find one".
And don't make where I live some fancy special thing either. That won't help the cause.
Thank you. >3<
