Middle School, actually.
For Elementary school, most everyone would bring in some cards and give them to the whole class. Sometimes we would have a 'party' with junk food and soda afterwards. Then, after school, there would be a dance.

Wow, they said it was the largest earthquake to hit Japan since they started keeping record in the late 1800's!
The tsunamis like wise are some of the most damaging they've experienced.
Places even as far as Honolulu are under alert; citizens were urged to move to higher ground.
I too hope everyone is alive and counted for, but the death count is going to be big.
