Even if something has dark shading, if we can't tell it's there, it's no good. Like on the third one, I can't see any shading other than on the white fluffy bits. You either need to make your shading colors darker or your base color lighter.
I think you could have left the lines alone, I see you changed them and properly shading would have taken care of the issue. I say this because to me, now they look like pants they way you put the lines in.

black is a tricky color always try for a dark grey and shade darker and then fiddle with it till it's dark enough to really look like black WITH shading and outlines
(You didn't do this but I'll say it anyway) Never shade black with grey outlines
The new skirt shape is nice but I wouldn't bother with the little lift in the middle, shading can compensate for the lake of line art but the sides look much better, more natural
May 5, 2014 12:52 (10 years ago)
Well I gave up on that and I made this dress instead. ELSA'S CORONATION DRESS
well dangit these are both super cute! X3
Annas light green parts need darker outlines and both dresses need to not be touching the right leg line directly, just lift the outline slightly, you don't need to lift it too much but it'll help the skirt look less stiff :3

Again the light blue could have darker outlines, but you get better at that the more you work on here
The only other thing That I forgot to notice till now would be that the girls dresses are straight across, you always want lines at the waist to dip just slightly, like by one pixel, just to give the body depth
Other than that I request you to pm me your favorite color ;3

Anna's Coat, Hair, and all together with dress
May 18, 2014 13:09 (10 years ago)
the hair looks a bit lumpy around the head but that's just a bit of pixel tweaking (easy fix)
The cape is pretty but the right site looks a bit too straight it should taper more like the left side does :3

fixed the braid:
and made the coat but they change/differ depending the position of the arms:
Here's just a simple side braid(volumized....sort of.....hehehe) ^_^ I was so bored......so umm......here you go!!! You can tell me my mistakes so I can edit it ASAP! ♥ I am so happy to share my ideas..........so ummm......hope you like it!!!!

Sorry about what I posted awhile ago.....^_^
Here's the transparent one

@Kawaii Chup-chup
Remember that pixel art is only one pixel thick. The top of the hair is also a little tall. Once you finish we can work on shading/highlights ^^
@tiffany_may
Thats looks really cool! Maybe you should make the outlines a little darker, but not a ton. Also the back pose should have more shading as well. Please try making some more clothing!
Keep up the good work!
June 10, 2014 22:36 (10 years ago)
@tiffany_may: those are really good!
@kawaii: why so huge? o_O;
June 11, 2014 1:50 (10 years ago)
Thanks for the tip ^_^
So I can improve them more.
I will just make the hair a little smaller and improve the thickness of the pixels and I will just improve the shadings and highlights a little more!!
BTW thanks fir the advice! ^_^

@tiffany_may I like the semi-transparency thing you did, people should do that more often ^.^
The hair looks a bit too tight-fitting around the head, did you use the base line art perhaps? Don't you know that's illegal? XP
@chupchup it's an improvement but it doesn't really look like hair. There's a bald spot above the ear, and it looks off-balance with all the weight that braid would have. And please don't use any straight lines even at an angle, it looks unnatural.

@Kawaii Chup-Chup
That looks very cute. Proabably a little more shading on the face/arms. But since backgrounds/handheld items are a bit more lenient, please try to work on else like clothing and hair. That will make it easier for the mods to see if you are ready to be an artist.
@Tiffany_may
That dress is so gorgeous <3 And I totally love it with and without the transparency! Nice Job!
@Kawaii Chup-Chup
Thats pretty good for a first try. The dress should be more rounded and not fly out at the back if that makes any sense. I understand that the reference picture shows the dress flying up in the back, but thats hard to do and make look good on this type of base, so just stick to the regular rounded dress shape. The bottom of the dress should be rounded as well and not flat. You also need more shading on the torso area. After you fix the roundness of the dress, we can work on more shading. ^^
@Tiffany_may
Those look very cool! I really like the first one. But, I still feel the lines could be darker on both of the dresses but I guess thats just me. On the second dress, The bow doesn't look like a bow. Try putting the bow behind the base's arms like in the picture.
Great job both of you!

Thanks! I promise I'll follow your advices next time so I can make my works prettier! ^_^
June 14, 2014 7:13 (10 years ago)
Tiffany, I like this coat thing but I don't understand why it looks like a poncho in some poses.
If it's a cape then it should go over the arms, not through it like on the first, second, fourth and eighth pose that you posted.
June 14, 2014 8:25 (10 years ago)
I tried making a simple dress.. yeah.. ^^
June 15, 2014 22:26 (10 years ago)
Thats very cool! I would suggest making the colors less vibrant. I suppose you wouldn't have too but I guess thats just my opinion and the outlines should be darker. The shading should be darker as well. You could also make the shading of the white fluff lighter.

Please don't double post the same things. The dresses have a very odd shape and the shading isn't dark enough. The lollipop outline looks like its just black. Try using a dark shade of the base color for the outlines like you did with your dresses. The rainbow shirt looks like it has black outlines and also darken the shading. The shape of the right sleeve looks deformed too. And finally the yellow shirt doesn't have dark enough shading and you should probably take out the buttons and pockets because it looks weird ;/. Please fix and resubmit!

Hey chup, why not start with something really simple like a short sleeveless dress or a sleeveless top, it's a lot easier to do than big gowns and big sleeved tops. Cc has good points too, the shading should be darker and same with the outlines, if it helps you can look at some of the items on the site as a reference just to see how the color differences and shapes work.

Outlines could be a bit darker on the teal and the lightest shade of black could still be a bit lighter
I can't wait to see what you come up with next! :D
