not bad though, the coloring is really nice and the scale is a bit big, bring the hair line down closer to the eye brows it's too high atm

I hurriedly done this so I bet this still needs a LOT of work.
April 9, 2015 16:23 (9 years ago)
Such a mess!
April 10, 2015 3:11 (9 years ago)
Those look pretty good :D!
1st image: The top of the hair looks too big. I think if you got rid of that one piece on the top it would look a lot better. There also seems to be a lot more hair on the left side than there is on the right side so thats something to look at as well.
2nd image: Like Alina said, you need to move all of the bangs down because it looks to large right now. The braid looks a bit awkward but can probably be fixed really easily if you can clean it up a bit. And I think the one strand of hair behind the ear would probably look better if you moved it in front of the ear. Anyways, good job and keep up the good work! Please show us more :D!

April 10, 2015 11:50 (9 years ago)

Hi I would like to follow-up again for these 3 submissions I submitted 8 days ago. I would just like to know if they're okay and the improvements I still need to put on them. Thanks :)
April 18, 2015 20:09 (9 years ago)
Maybe those people don't have time to look into it right now? You shouldn't be trying to get these items accepted, but prove that you're a good artist that can make quality items that hardly need improvements. Try to draw lots of different things, and not just on our doll base, you'll make quicker progress that way.
April 19, 2015 11:39 (9 years ago)
Thanks for the tip Karin! I thought that you should only put them on your dolls.....lol.....Thanks for the tip! Hehehe ^_^
April 28, 2015 20:10 (9 years ago)
I love how much progress your making Kawaii!
My tips would be first to completely agree with Karin, maybe try doing a hamburger or something? It would help on pixeling different textures.
Also i'd say your line work for your hairs is good, but maybe try playing around with the colors?
My tip for this would be never use your outline color inside the item, like using it on the braid inside, try just adding a new dark colour for inside? This color is also could for partings without it look horrendous! But yes generally playing with the shading and colors.
And my number one tip would always be, find your favorite pixeled item, and get it on paint and zoom in on it! You can pick up loads of little ideas.
Also its always good to keep to your own styles!! So no matter how you improve, you can look at something and know who its by (If you actually know the artist).
Goodluck Kawaii. :)

How does this look?
It's a face override :)
April 28, 2015 23:24 (9 years ago)
Cute I guess, but keeps in mind what the first post says : "The item should go on an existing layer (represented by the dropdown lists in changing booths). Skins, expressions, poses or full backgrounds are off limits"
Why don't you try making a full outfit next, you know, to show off? ^.^
April 28, 2015 23:26 (9 years ago)
Will Do thanks :3
April 28, 2015 23:51 (9 years ago)
Does this look good? it is my first attempt on making accessories.
April 29, 2015 0:09 (9 years ago)
Okay so I tried to make a basic outfit. How does this one look?
April 29, 2015 20:23 (9 years ago)
@senverbrino (Think i spelt that right) Those are some cute little glasses! Though with the lighting on the glasses, it looks like the light is coming from two different places, on this doll base the light comes from the top left. Also with the glasses Karin doesn't like it when you block the expressions too much.
Why not try making hand held glasses like that?
@DollBae I like the cute color scheme you've got going for your outfit!
Overall i'd say you might want to darken your highlights.
And with the shading you need to remember the lumps and bumps on a person torso, such as your stomach, and the the fact the top looks skin tight, try adding some fold to it too make it look slightly baggier, for that i suggest looking at real picture of shirts, see how they fall and lay.
With the skirt It kinda looks like someone is pulling it from the right, if you know what i mean? The fabric should fall down more naturally and round off at the bottom.
My advice to you would to go look at other pixeling items and zoom in on them, this will help you with your shading. :)
April 29, 2015 21:06 (9 years ago)
Thank you so much for your help :D
April 29, 2015 22:08 (9 years ago)
Okay, I think I may have it down now?
April 30, 2015 4:27 (9 years ago)
still darker on the shading and make sure that nothing is flat on the body. The bottom of your shorts and suspenders are completely straight, you need to curve those slightly to "wrap" around the body :3
April 30, 2015 11:23 (9 years ago)
Thank you for the advices guys. Sorry I haven't been online for the past few days....and I promise you I'll improve my works. Thank you. :D
April 30, 2015 11:24 (9 years ago)
BTW, hamburgers? Sure! I love burgers so much!!!
April 30, 2015 11:25 (9 years ago)
You guys are just so great in giving advices......

Okay did the advise, so how's this?
March 23, 2016 23:35 (8 years ago)
how do i make it look like its pixel, do i have to get a painting app for it?
March 24, 2016 5:23 (8 years ago)
You can use microsoft paint, photoshop, or basically any digital artwork program. I personally use photoshop which has a pencil tool and you just make the eraser 1 pixel wide with no opacity or transfer etc. But for most programs you'd just have the smallest brush size possible, and make sure theres no anti-aliasing going on. Hope that helps at all~

There is a severely out of date PAINT tutorial located

Ohh that's pretty cute! The outline would need to be a darker to match with our style. Do you want to become an item artist?
May 31, 2021 1:50 (3 years ago)
I can do a darker outline. I just wasn't sure how dark to do it :) I would love to be an item artist if I could
May 31, 2021 22:03 (3 years ago)
They're supposed to be pretty dark, "almost black." Anyone is able too after a "probation" period~ (my word); deff read the instructions above! ^w^

I'm kinda interested in creating items, are we allowed to use the item base thingie in the oekaki section?

Yep! 😁

December 18, 2021 1:35 (2 years ago)
So I tried making an outfit, does this look ok?
December 18, 2021 1:38 (2 years ago)
I'm trying to go for simple things since I'm kinda using a trackpad at the moment ^^
December 18, 2021 15:36 (2 years ago)
It's cute! I'd advice against long sleeves for your first item, though, because of the pose requirements. Maybe Ran can give you some tips about shading and line art.
December 18, 2021 18:59 (2 years ago)
Yes, doing long sleeves for a first item would not be considered simple because you would need to make every arm pose with the item, which requires multiple files.
I hope you can take some constructive criticism. 😅 I'm just trying to help you meet requirements. 👍
Lineart
The lines for the skirt, the hot-pink part, needs darker lines.
Here and there, there are a few missing px (pixels) and a couple extra px.
If you take the sleeves off this wont matter, but for the inside of the left arm, the darker line for the sleeve is not necessary and technically breaks requirements.
Shading IMO the shading is not that bad, better shading will come with experience. I recommend keeping an open mind about changing the shading as you work on this and other items. 💖
🌟 Keep up the good work! 🌟

hi! I made an item edit, does it look fine?
August 28, 2022 14:11 (2 years ago)
I think it looks great! I gotta double check on my PC tho! <3
August 28, 2022 14:57 (2 years ago)
Yeah, I really like it! IMO the darkest line color is slightly too dark; I also would kinda like to see highlights! <3
August 28, 2022 20:11 (2 years ago)
Dunno if I 'm mowing the grass in front of anyone else's feet but I just made Meteor a site artist, congratulations! Let's get you published soon!
