Ho'kay, here we go~
I'm going to teach you how to make wings(and other back and parallel items) go with the direction of the avatar's face ^^
Now, if I've lost you already, look at the avatar down there.
See how it's not exactly facing straight ahead and is slightly turned?
Ho'kay. Now, the first thing you need to do to make a back item, is to lop off the arms of the avatar(it doesn't feel pain, don't worry!)
Next thing to do is make the first half of the item. The left side of the avatar(your right) is actually facing forward...sorta. So this half will be facing forward(easy huh?)
Now onto the other side. You want to make sure it is somewhat level with the other side, so make a little starting point. Draw a line to the other side right abooouuut where you think the other side should start from(this may change later)
Don't let go of the mouse! Right click where you end and make a dot there.
Now, this is where the real lesson begins. When you make the second half, every horizontal line will be one pixel less than the other side, unless it is already one pixel.
Now, of course this doesn't work 100% and is only a helpful tool. As you can see, I had to improvise some of the lines to make it work correctly, but most of the time, one less pixel works.
Ok here's an important thing to keep in mind, and I'm not sure if it only applies to wings or not.
Unless it's supposed to look like that, most wings should be one pixel apart. Any further than that, and it may(MAY) look awkward.
It's not an exact science, because it's art. It's a helpful thing to keep in mind when drawing your item. When it doesn't work for the whole thing, just go with what you think looks right.
Ok! That's pretty much all you need to know!
