I wouldn't like the currency, some people might find it hard to earn money or don't have the time and miss out, and paying to use a booth aswell would suck...
February 20, 2009 15:28 ()
Games. We need games. That's a good way to earn currency.
February 20, 2009 15:30 ()
And give the mods the ability to grant K-bucks to people they deem worthy. Oh, and contests, as well.
February 20, 2009 17:30 ()
Tully: don't you think it should be rewarding somehow to spend time on here? The reason why people spend more time on sites like Gaia is that they can save up and quest for things.
Chich: those are nice ideas! Hmm, premium items... We could do that, but somehow it doesn't really make sense if people can make their own items.
Games would be nice, but they are a lot of work to make. I could ask my little brother to make something, he likes making Flash games, but he never finishes anything he starts, so I don't know. Plus I would want the games to have to do something with the dolls and not just be rip-offs of games that are already out there.
K-bucks? XP I only know of K-bups. Prize money is a great idea. I was just discussing with the mods what would be a good prize for a contest, and they agreed on "avi art". If we have currency, winners could buy avi art from whoever they want with it.
February 20, 2009 17:42 ()
Ooh, fun. If your brother needs help, I can try :3 game that inolves Rin or Jack? :O! "Help Jack get to Catie!" >w< and hmm...that progressive item idea you've been working on could be bought with K-bucks.
February 20, 2009 19:25 ()
Which progressive item idea? The pet one?
Hmm, how would I call that currency? In Lego Star Wars they have the coolest currency ever, "studs" XD Maybe it should be like "pixels", the building blocks we're using.
February 20, 2009 20:09 ()
I think 'pixels' would be fitting.
I have my own opinions on the whole 'everyone can make items' bit, but I'm not really sure how they would help anything.
February 20, 2009 22:03 ()
Ooh pixels is cool...but i meant something that could be purhased could be the pet/EI thing you've been developing. sorry for being confusing i wasn't fully awake yet..
February 20, 2009 22:09 ()
What are your ideas, Az? :3
February 21, 2009 1:25 ()
But for people who love the site but don't have the time they would miss out on alot of things...
February 21, 2009 1:42 ()
:\\ It should motivate them to find more time for us then.
February 21, 2009 2:15 ()
...I mean if they DON'T have any time.
February 21, 2009 5:58 ()
I understand what Tully means, but I think in the larger sites, they tend to care more about the people who do have the time and think that they people who don't have the time, will just be able to buy whatever they want later.
At least with our event system, you can get the items whenever you want.
Chich- It's nothing that I can say that won't offend some people or make entirely a whole lot of sense because I can't even word it right in my head, so I won't even worry with explaining until I actually can.
I think we should have premium items, just because i would be nice to get something out of being here (though I personally already do, it's fun) but being able to collect things and proudly say "I was here for ..." or "I was part of it's beginning". Things like that would be ice, specially if we want to grow this site and maybe graduate to something bigger, in forums size or doll size if Karin wanted.
I love the small size, but at the same time I wish it was bigger so that we could do more detailed items.
February 21, 2009 6:04 ()
But I wasn't here for ages so I would've missed a whole lot of things if there were such things, even though i've been on this site for so long...
February 21, 2009 6:21 ()
I personally like how the site is and wouldn't mind if it didn't change. I like that you can get event items whenever and that you can submit your own items.
I understand that adding new stuff to this site will also make it more interesting so i'm for that too. I think the pets feature can be one of the premium items since that would be a cool feature.
@Az - I've sometimes wish they were bigger too but i've gotten used to working on these dolls.
February 21, 2009 6:31 ()
Bigger dolls? That might be fun :3
As long as I get to stay an artist, I'm cool with whatever.
February 21, 2009 14:28 ()
There are reasons why they're so small. The first reason is that I wanted you to be able to use them instead of emoticons on other sites (I found out later it won't work on Gaia), the second reason is that I was inspired by cute low resolution game sprites when I made them (Pokemon!) and third is that they load faster if the file size is small.
My site looks ridiculous on my brother's high resolution wide screen laptop, though XD
February 22, 2009 1:27 ()
Newly added: party hats, for anything you might want to celebrate.
February 22, 2009 1:52 ()
Yay! Party~!
February 22, 2009 2:21 ()
Cute party hat, Karin.
February 22, 2009 5:27 ()
=P Goes with the scarf...
February 22, 2009 14:08 ()
Whee! Finally got this to work!
February 22, 2009 14:11 ()
Cool~!
Woah, my avi looks really weird like this..!
February 22, 2009 14:14 ()
Pretty neat.
February 22, 2009 14:21 ()
This will probably reveal a whole lot of flaws in my (and others') artwork. Well-done items should come out looking about the same. Any writing should probably be removed from items. (I didn't want the background to get flipped but I don't know what to do about it (yet))
February 22, 2009 21:36 ()
huh...
February 23, 2009 2:44 ()
In case anyone is confused: logging in doesn't actually work yet.
February 23, 2009 3:35 ()
oh. yah i noticed it was there, but i was still there...
you're really movin' fast now, karin! ^^;
gettin' all this cool stuff done :D
February 23, 2009 6:39 ()
O.O Kool...
February 23, 2009 15:16 ()
Congrats on getting the log-in up and running, Karin!
February 23, 2009 19:13 ()
It's not exactly finished yet. I should probably make a new "change password" thing and "forgot password" e-mailing thing. And it still asks for passwords in some places.
February 23, 2009 21:50 ()
Yah but it works for the most part and it looks nice ^^
February 24, 2009 5:18 ()
Wicked, now we don't have to put the keyword in all the time. ^^
February 24, 2009 21:54 ()
I think the user tally may only tell you how many people are on where you are cuz it only ever says 1
February 24, 2009 23:07 ()
I coolified the counter thing. I don't know how accurate it is about counting guests though.
February 25, 2009 0:24 ()
:o that is cooler!~
February 25, 2009 4:30 ()
Counter?
February 25, 2009 10:09 ()
Main page, bottom, look for "currently online"
February 25, 2009 15:10 ()
Tully doesn't pay attention to the bottom of the page, apparently...
February 25, 2009 21:18 ()
Oooo~! I'm online! x3
February 25, 2009 22:30 ()
I really just wanna say that the flipping feature is really amazing. It adds a very dynamic feel to the avatars when they're facing the other way.
February 26, 2009 4:15 ()
Yup, makes a big difference. =P
February 26, 2009 17:38 ()
The next thing I want to make is that chat box I've been wanting.
February 26, 2009 20:39 ()
Chat box?
February 26, 2009 20:49 ()
Yes, so people can take all their spamming there, and talk directly to other people who are online. I used to go on chatboxes before I even knew what a forum was.
February 26, 2009 21:40 ()
Oh, sounds cool.
I thought this was a chat box, which is why I was confused because it's not set up like any other forums that I'm on, so I wasn't sure what it really was XD
February 26, 2009 22:00 ()
I told you, Karin. There's a site that lets you get free chatboxes that you can embed into the site page. D: -goes to find name-
February 26, 2009 22:02 ()
Ah! I think it was called "ShoutMix" ^^;
February 26, 2009 23:33 ()
This is more like a... comment box, well actually just what I called it, a mini forum. The chat box (which I will make myself, I refuse to use other people's junk) will probably be in the same style, but refreshing on its own and you won't be able to read back.
February 27, 2009 1:10 ()
Yeah, why use other people's stuff when you can make it yourself and probably better. I like that this site doesn't use the same type of forums that other places use. It's all made by Karin. :)
Chich: those are nice ideas! Hmm, premium items... We could do that, but somehow it doesn't really make sense if people can make their own items.
