the hair lighting is a bit unnatural and more shading on the bangs would be nice.
also the top of the bang is really odd and needs to be fixed
oh and darker outline would be nice

Unless the picture was already updated since you posted that, Star, I don't agree on the outline part. The outline should be dark enough, and it is, that's all. Personally I like the cosplay hairstyle, but not the other one.

Oh I see now, after zooming in to the image I see the gold outline on the cuff.
I would suggest making the gold outlines darker as well. On the light bg of the site, it's hard to see.

That's pretty neat, Sparrow! The only thing you have to be careful about with these shaded outlines is that you don't make them too light, since the base's outline is pretty dark and it may not match so well. I keep telling people that and they still keep coming up with light grey outlines for white items...
But anyway, I'm going to grant you upload access for the submission page, welcome on board! :D

Its ok, but i think you should try breaking it up a bit, so its not so blocky.. If that makes sense, and try not to go over the top though, cause if add loads more bits, it'll look crowded.
And when shading, try to think that it is not a solid objects, the shading can be obscured by a piece of hair going in a different direction, or a raised it of hair.
But you have got better, so well done. :)

@denan: the hair- needs a little curve like from this || to this () -only a slight curve.
Flower dress-I would like to see a version of a smaller star on the torso and a few stars on the skirt, cause it the design looks a bit overcrowded.

the shape is really nice but you need WAY darker shading and darker outlines as well
I also suggest working on your own style more, some of your items look really similar to things star has done in the past

the bottom is too flat, you need to bring up the sides like you did on the above layers, other than that darker shading on the right side and it looks pretty nice ^^

I think the amount of shades used is pretty good.
If you find you were having difficulties using 5 shades (excluding outline, including "main" color) you can always try less.
Personally I use 3 levels for most items; main, highlight and shadow.
