How to submit your own pixel items for this site (Pixel Art)
idk if chats have been made..... | |
tysm! here's the edit, let me know if it's better (lightened the darkest colours + added highlights)!
| |
May I ask what is your previous experience, and what program you use? (to help me help you) | |
You should try uploading that! There are some things like drawing what's behind the arms and legs and putting them on their own layer, but the upload page should give you some pointers. | |
hi, everyone! did this one hair. may i submit it to the game? : D is everything okay with it?
i'm planning to make some tayuu/traditional japanese clothing! discovered this game today and i love it! | |
It looks great to me! I'll grant you upload access. Happy to welcome you as a site artist and hope to see many more pretty items from you! ^.^ | |
thanks!! one thing, i was going to upload also this kimono that i also made, i chose the top layer but i'm not really sure what up and side means? not sure if here is the right place to ask D : | |
Ah those are sleeve layers. As you know we have a lot of arm poses and we need all clothes to be compatible with them. There is a tutorial about it here: https://chibido...leeve_tutorial
It makes long sleeved tops a real hassle though, hope you like a challenge ^^; | |
naah, don't worry, i was aware of that! (the challenge was super fun) my problem is that below the part where we upload the torso png, there's two buttons for uploading "up" and "side" and i don't know exactly what i should upload : ) | |
I think the button on the left is for the left arm and the button on the right is for the right arm, with the doll facing the left like in here.
I think you still need to make your hair compatible with elf ears btw, see the hair tutorial for that, and sorry again :P | |
alright! thank you very much!
and that's true, i do need to do that! i'll make some changes to the hair according to the tutorial : D | |
I wanted to make items. Do these work? :> | |
Ooh that looks pretty great! I'd personally use a bit of a darker outline for the lighter one but it's a matter of taste. If you're still with us tomorrow I'll grant you artist/upload access ^^ | |
How do you know if you have access or not? | |
...I agree about the lines.
---- It will be on your profile, right below your oekaki. | |
Okay ^_^ | |
is it good or not | |
is a an accessory | |
Hmm, for a first item I think I would prefer to see some more traditional clothing, so we can see your skills ^^ | |
okay thanks |
- Anyone can get their items added if they follow these instructions and their work is of decent quality.
- Save the base on to your computer. It's a 100×100 canvas. The item needs to be drawn on top of it.
- Line art needs to be cleaned up to a 1 pixel width. Also rather than black the outline should be a very dark shade of the item color.
- At least 1 color needs to be used to shade, the light comes in from the (upper) left. The color #00FF00 (lime green) is reserved for transparency.
- The item should go on an existing layer (represented by the dropdown lists in changing booths). Skins, expressions, poses or full backgrounds are off limits.
- Always save your images as a .PNG file. It's the format that the items on Chibi Pixel Doll Dress-up are displayed in because it doesn't distort the quality of the image.
- You may submit up to 3 different colors per item. The outline color should change along with the item color.
- For items that go behind the doll, also draw the parts that go behind the arms and legs. Hair can be tricky, read the Hair Tutorial before attempting to make hair. Please read the Sleeve Tutorial if you want to do gloves or things with sleeves. Submit handheld items and things with text at your own risk.
- Everything you submit must be 100% your own work, but I'll allow very good edits of my own items. You will need explicit permission from anyone else.
- If you make hair, please do not use the bald head outline for the back of the head.
- If you're trying to get an item added for the first time, post your edit here using [img] tags. If a moderator likes your work, you'll be granted upload access for the Submission Page. There you should submit your item in PNG format with the base edited out and a transparent background (some people are using this website for that, but you could also use Paint.NET (free)).
A list of all pixel item artists can be found here.
Important:
If you can't take criticism or rejection, please don't try to be an artist here. Also, even accepted items can be taken off at any time if our standards change or changes are made to the avatar system.
