The easiet way to explain making an item is: Save the doll base (you can go to the dress-up page, strip your avatar then right click it and save that image); open the doll in a program like Photoshop or MS Paint, and draw your item.
There's some rules that you need to follow; read the guides here on the site to find out exactly what to do.
Once you've drawn your item, erase the doll and save the item on it's own. (That way you've got the doll still saved, and you don't need to get it each time you make an item.)
Last, you can post it in the User Submission section by hosting it on a website like PhotoBucket or ImageShack, and paste the [img] code.
Myself, Karin, Az and some of our artists will give you their advice, opinions and tips on it to help you get permission to upload items onto the site for everyone to wear.
